T-Mobile suffered a nationwide service outage in the United States on Monday, July 27, 2026, affecting mobile signal, data, and residential internet for millions of customers for several hours.

Tens of thousands of reports within minutes

The disruption began around 3 p.m. Downdetector.com recorded more than 60,000 user reports by 4 p.m., a figure that surged with over 100,000 additional reports during the following hour. Affected mobile devices displayed “SOS” status, indicating no available network connection.

The problem was not limited to T-Mobile’s direct customers: it also affected carriers that rely on its infrastructure, such as Mint Mobile, Boost Mobile, and Google Fi. In addition to cellular service, the outage impacted 5G Home Internet, the residential internet service the company offers through its mobile network.

The company confirmed full service restoration

Initially, T-Mobile stated that its teams were actively working on the technical issues affecting some customers and that resolving the situation was the top priority. By around 10 p.m. the same Monday, the company confirmed the problem had been resolved: “We have fully restored service for all customers and sincerely apologize for the difficulties,” T-Mobile declared.

The root cause of the outage was not publicly confirmed by the company. The incident occurred amid an active network transition at T-Mobile, which plans to permanently retire its last 2G GSM network on August 3, 2026, although it was not confirmed whether that process was related to the service outage recorded on Monday.
